Presentation: Teaching Group Lessons Online
As a pioneer, some say the first, to offer group lessons online, Bradley Sowash will guide you through pedagogical tips and best practices to for successfully teaching online music classes.
Learn to transfer group teaching pedagogical principles to an online setting, including designing lesson plans, exercises, scale work, games, apps as well as strategies that enable group learning—such as managing assignments, sharing practice videos for teacher feedback and facilitating peer support. Note that while we will briefly touch on basic equipment needs, this session does not include detailed instructions for setting up or troubleshooting video conferencing technology.
Bradley Sowash is a jazz pianist, composer, author and educator who has spent decades performing, recording and helping pianists discover what can happen beyond the printed page. He’s the author of the acclaimed “That’s Jazz” and “Creative Chords” series, has recorded nine solo piano albums, and has appeared on seven seasons of the PBS series, “The Piano Guy.” After co-founding 88 Creative Keys with Leila Viss to help traditionally piano teachers become more creative in summer camps and webinars, he taught 40 themed live online group jazz piano courses. When he’s not making or teaching music you might him on a horse or tractor at his family farm in southern Ohio.
