Dr. Erika Burns is a violinist and educator dedicated to helping musicians play with confidence and ease.
As a certified Franklin Method Educator, Erika teaches principles of healthy movement, anatomy, and somatic exercises to musicians. She has presented Franklin Method sessions at the American String Teacher Association National Conference, Classical Wellness’ Musicians Wellness Symposium, Duo526’s Sonata Seminar at Indiana University, and Chamber Music Guild.
Erika holds degrees in violin performance from the University of Oklahoma (DMA, MM) and Western Washington University (BM). Her doctoral research integrated movement education principles from sports, dance, and kinesiology into violin pedagogy and was a finalist in the University of Oklahoma’s 3M Thesis Competition.
Katie O'Rourke, NCTM is a piano instructor and Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner® who helps musicians recover from injury through the cultivation of safe and effective technique. Katie approaches movement learning in a creative way, blending the fundamentals of Taubman Technique with the free exploration of the Feldenkrais Method and Dalcroze Eurythmics.
After graduating with a B.M. in Music from Western Washington University, Katie served as pianist for Whatcom Symphony Orchestra and collaborated with groups such as Skagit Opera, Bellingham Chamber Orchestra. She is a member of Ladies Musical Club of Seattle. When not teaching, Katie enjoys open water swimming and watching movies. Free wellness resources are available at pianowithkatie.com.
